We do more than sew together! It's all about having fun!

As you know, we are a mother & daughter team.  Many, many years ago, we were working together helping to manage a horse show, and people were surprised to find out we were mother & daughter because we worked so well together....like friends.  Well we are friends, of course! & we have lots of fun & laughs when we get together!

Tree dancing, was a tradition for years at our annual trip to Lake Placid!

Relaxing on our pond a few years ago!

It was always fun trying to get a good picture with our pets! This one came out nice!

No I'm not tree dancing this time...just acting as a tree stand!

This was a very happy day for me, when my daughter got her own Macy's card!! Yipee!

Posing in the the sunshine at Saratoga polo!

Rain or shine we have fun together!

Anyway, the secret of our relationship is we keep laughing!

And thanks to my daughter-partner for teaching me the ropes in our new Etsy shop! Even though we are separated by many miles now, we are still having fun together!

Visiting Lake Placid, NY

For the past 15 years it's been our annual tradition to visit Lake Placid, NY, usually around the 4th of July. This year we went for a quick weekend visit, but we squeezed in lots of fun stuff!

First we checked out the John Brown farm. Brown was an abolitionist and the farm is now a historic site with hiking trails.

From there we walked over to the Olympic ski jumps and checked out some summer skiing.

The next day we headed over to Tupper Lake and the Wild Center. They recently opened the Wild Walk, which is a very cool structure that reaches about 40 feet above the ground.

Later that afternoon we drove back to Lake Placid to check out the grand prix competition at the horse show.

We wrapped up our day with a paddle boat ride around Paradox Bay in Lake Placid.

Before heading home the next morning we walked the 2.7 mile loop around Mirror Lake.

Can't wait to go back next year!

Favorite Summer Vacation Spot - Lake Placid, NY

Lake Placid, NY is our favorite place for a summer vacation. We've gone almost every July for the last 15 years!

There's so much to do in the area - an A rated horse show, hiking and nature trails, the Wild Center, and winter Olympic sites. Lake Placid has a great downtown area on Mirror Lake with shopping, a movie theater, and restaurants. We love staying near this smaller lake and walking a lap around it each morning.

Fourth of July is a great time to head up because the town always holds a great parade and fireworks show!

Here are some of our pictures from past trips.

Photos of the Day: Shelving Rock Falls in Lake George, NY (Adirondacks)

Living near the Adirondack Park is great. In case you didn't know, the Adirondack Park is 6 million acres of private and public land in Northern New York state. It was created in 1892 and is the largest area of protected land in the contiguous United States!

There are tons of state parks, hiking trails, mountains, lakes and ponds, and more in this area of the state. Everywhere you go is a great photo opportunity.

Joe and I hiked to Shelving Rock Falls in the Lake George area. Hiked is a relative term, it was fairly level and less than two miles round trip. The drive in was actually tougher than the "hike" because we had to drive for about 11 miles off the main road, most of which was dirt road.

Then the parking area was pretty creepy. It is usually a little unsettling to be in the middle of the woods next to one other guy in his car, with no cell phone service!

We found the trail and started the walk. The trail is really nice; flat, wide, and easy. We heard the falls before we saw them and when they finally came into view they didn't disappoint.

These falls aren't the hugest, but it's cool because you can walk down alongside them and see them from more angles as you go.

When you get to the bottom of the hill it's just a short walk to the shores of Lake George. Right across the lake is The Sagamore, an inn/resort that's impressive even from more than a mile across the water!

This is a fun, easy hike that we really enjoyed. It's pretty cool to think the Revolutionary War was fought in this area, and the soldiers were walking in some of the same places, seeing some of the same things. The rocky cliffs near the top of the falls look like something right out of Last of the Mohicans! If you go, don't forget the bug spray.

Here are the instructions we used for hiking to Shelving Rock Falls.

Spring Has Sprung... in London!

In London the grass is greening up, trees are budding, and the daffodils are in bloom! It's quite a contrast to the snow and frozen ground in New York.

I'm traveling for work this week and so I won't have time to write blog posts. However, I thought I'd share a few photos of St. James Park.
