Best Bet Design Blogging Schedule

We are announcing a new blogging schedule for fall. This time of year is our busiest. Not only are getting ready for the holiday rush of orders for Best Bet Design on Etsy, Laura also manages the Marion's Mittens Etsy shop.

We'll be sharing the same types of content on three days each week. Here's what you can watch for on our blog this fall:

Happy National Sewing Month!

September is National Sewing Month! What better way to kick off the creation of some new items for fall than a whole month devoted to sewing.

Here are some of the fabrics we'll be playing with this month:

Our best-selling blue ikat fabric already exist in our shop (pillow covers, runners). The other fabrics are brand new for fall and we're really excited to sew with them!

Keep an eye on the blog. We'll post photos of the new table runners in the works that feature some of these fabrics.

New Vintage Corner in Our Etsy Shop

The latest offering to our Etsy shop is the vintage corner. This section of our shop houses old stuff--mostly glassware and decor for now.

We're on Pier1's Instagram!

An exciting announcement (for us) this week... One of our Instagram photos was featured on the Pier1 Instagram account! It was so exciting to be contacted by the social media team at Pier1 when they requested permission to repost our photo.

As of 5:53 PM last night the photo already had 421 likes.  :)

Now Shipping our Home Decor Worldwide!

Thanks to Etsy's new calculated shipping feature, we can now send our items all over the world. In the past it was nearly impossible to estimate how much shipping would cost for each item to a given location.

Calculated shipping makes things so much easier for both buyers and sellers on Etsy.

For buyers, calculated shipping means:

• Lower cost, because sellers no longer overestimate package weight
• More shipping options, because sellers don't have to create the options manually
• Better discounts for purchasing more items, because shipping is calculated by weight rather than number of items

For sellers, calculated shipping means:

• No more getting stuck paying for shipping costs that wind up costing more than anticipated
• Easily offering more options ranging from First Class to Overnight without having to do this manually
• Taking advantage of Ety's shipping discounts, including First Class packages weighing up to 16 oz, and passing these savings along to buyers!

Now Blogging 5 Days a Week!

We are so excited to be working on our Etsy shop, Best Bet Design. There are so many good ideas that a blog seems like a great place to share!

I (Laura) have been blogging for a few months now. This morning I was inspired to spend even more time blogging thanks to listening to a few episodes of the Brilliant Business Moms Podcast while I was knitting for Marion's Mittens. (Did you know I have another Etsy shop?)

During the calm of a Sunday morning I was ambitious enough to come up with the following blog schedule:

On Mondays, I will share an announcement about our shop. This could be a new product or something new we are trying.

On Tuesdays, we will share a DIY project or tip that worked for us that may benefit you!

On Wednesdays, we'll share a little bit more about ourselves, the two behind this shop.

On Thursdays, I'll probably need a break. So I'll simply share a photo!

On Fridays, I'll share some posts about the farmhouse I moved into last year. It needs a lot of work, so we may as well document it.

Nobody's perfect, and I'm no exception. I'm sure I'll miss some days here and there. But this is the plan and I hope you enjoy it!
